STATUS: United republic of Tanzania.
AREA: Tanzania the largest country in Eastern
Africa. Has an area of 937.062sqkm.
CLIMATE: The country experience hottest months
from October to February and long rainy seasons from mid march
to late may.
PASSPORTS: Required/Valid
VISAS: Required/except for commonwealth countries
obtained from Tanzania Embassies.
HEALTH: Required certificate for vaccine for
yellow fever and cholera. If arriving from yellow fever affected
areas.
INSURANCE: Strongly advised to have your own
insurance, to cover baggage, accidents and medicals.
RESERVATIONS: 50% deposit on booking and balance
before the tour begins.
CANCELLATIONS: Received within seven days of
commencement of the tour, subject to a 50% charge
Tanzania’s diversity and natural, unspoiled beauty makes
it one of the best Safari destinations in Africa. Tanzania is
located along the eastern coast of Africa just south of the
equator. Tanzania’s wildlife areas are unfenced and hence
the game can migrate and live in their natural habitats.
Language & People:
Swahili is the countries official language although many Tanzanians
can speak English. The country has over 110 different tribes,
which make for harmony, as no tribe is dominant. . Tanzanians
are generally wonderful people who love to welcome visitors
to their country.
Political:
Mainland Tanganyika and the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba formed
a political and economic union after Tanganyika gained independence
from Britain in 1961. Together they form Tanzania. Tanzania
is a multi party democracy. The Country is very politically
stable without riots or unrest.
Customs & Religion:
Tanzania has a mix of religions from Christians to Hindus to
Muslims. Many customs typical of a certain religion are adopted
by others out of respect and all religious holidays are public
holidays for all.
Currency & Monies:
Tanzania currency is Tanzanian Shilling (Tshs). Exchange rates
fluctuate but it is about 1200/=Tshs to the 1Usd. Guests are
advised to bring traveler cheques and USD cash, and can be changed
in Tanzania. Most of the ban now has cash machine, outside the
bank for 24hour, most banks accept VISA CARD, but few accept
master card .from cash machine you will get only Tanzania shilling.
