Accommodation:
Selous Safari camp
Selous Safari Camp
This camp remains under the same management and ownership
despite its name change, and continues to operate
an authentic and elegant permanent tented camp among
the palm trees on the banks of the Rufiji River. The
camp is spacious and stylishly designed for an atmospheric
stay, with a shady swimming pool to complete its appeal.
The richly decorated dining room and bar are raised
high on stilts substantial enough to withstand the
onslaught of elephant perusals during candlelit suppers,
and the billowing sleeping tents each have their own
private veranda and are colorfully bright and airy.
The atmosphere is relaxed and yet wonderfully comfortable,
with good attention to detail
SandRivers
Selous
Sand Rivers Selous is a smart, permanent camp stylishly
designed in chunky dark wood and flagstones with views
over a wide and dramatically rocky stretch of the
Rufigi River. Its eight spacious accommodation bandas
are built on stilts with a shaggy overhanging thatch,
each with one side open to the river, giving clear
views of the water and sandbanks from a lavishly net-covered
bed.
The lodge has a congenial old-English colonial atmosphere
with a penchant for surprise G&Ts on a scenic
hilltop to complete a long walk through the bush,
and a taste for safari chic.
Ruffiji
River camp
This was one of the first tented camps in the area
and consequently claims a superb location over a wide
curve in the river. The dining area and bar are well
positioned for memorable sunsets every night, and
accommodation is in permanent ground-level tents.
The Italian management is popular with the Italian
market, which have a tendency to travel in rather
large and rowdy groups and eat pasta for supper every
night. The camp is also popular with a very large
and rowdy population of velvet monkeys who have a
merry tendency to engage in noisy family disputes
on your tent-flap step.
Beho
beo camp
Unlike other lodges in Selous Beho Beho is located
in the highlands of Selous. This gives it both unrivalled
views and a sense of privacy in which to unwind and
relax.
Safaris are led by experienced guides who ensure that
each safari is tailor made to guests needs whether
it is a 10 km walk followed by breakfast in the bush
or an evening safari drive ending with sundowners
at one of Selous most breathtaking, unknown spots.
Either way safaris at Beho Beho are guaranteed to
provide.
